Accessibility Information

The Monday Club of Webster Groves

The building has been designated a Webster Groves Missouri Historic Landmark. The Eastern part was built in 1911 and the Western addition in 1929 - both long, long before any considerations of accessibility. Since then, there have been some accessibility retrofits but there are limits to how much can be done for an old building confined by its size and shape and that of the urban lot it sits on.

There are three entrances to the building. In the Google satellite view, the South entrance (E. Cedar) has three steps plus handrails. The East entrance (S. Maple) has eight steps plus handrails. Visitors using wheelchairs should use the level kitchen entrance off the walkway at the West end of the building. Our visitors with wheelchairs have had no difficulty going this route.

The Eastern and Western sections of the building have different floor levels, separated by about three steps. A powered chair lift has been added at these stairs and guests in wheelchairs transfer from their chairs to the lift to move between levels. The Eastern level is where we sing and there is a handicap restroom. The lower Western level is where the shared meal is spread and where most people eat. The E. Cedar and kitchen entrances open to the Western level and the S. Maple entrance opens to the Eastern level.

We hope this will provide sufficient information for those of us with mobility considerations.
